Whole Foods Market will hold a grand opening of its new store on Lake Woodlands on March 18, offering the first 500 customers free reusable bags, and the store will host a preview party on March 13.
The new store will have a bread breaking ceremony with coffee and pastries from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. on opening day, March 18. The store officially opens at 8 a.m. and will also feature tastings, special sales and music and activities for all ages.
Whole Foods is hosting a preview party open to the public on March 13 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., including sips and samples of local and exclusive products. Tickets are a $10 donation and space is limited. Tickets can be purchased in advance a thttp://wfmwoodlands.eventbrite.com.
Proceeds from the preview party will benefit HOPE, The Will Herndon Research Fund at Beyond Batten Disease Foundation. Will Herndon is a 12-year old resident of The Woodlands battling Juvenile Batten Disease, a fatal, genetic disorder of the nervous system.
"We are so excited to support this local family as they raise awareness and funds for Batten Disease," saidJeanette Webster, Houston Media and Community Relations with Whole Foods.
In addition, for the first five Wednesdays beginning March 18, Whole Foods will donate one percent of the day's net sales to different designated nonprofits in The Woodlands, Webster said.
The new 44,000 square feet store is located in the Hughes Landing mixed-use development. It is the 10th Whole Foods in the greater Houston market.
The new Whole Foods will include a wine and beer bar with 24 taps and a fresh smoothie and coffee bar. In addition, the new store will have a wood burning pizza oven and an in-store barbeque smokehouse with brisket, pork butt, ribs and sausage.
The store also will have a build-your-own taco station with fresh guacamole and salsa and a made to order sushi bar.
The new store will offer indoor and outdoor seating. In addition, the store will have an electric vehicle charging station.
