Woodlands Triathlon to impact traffic Saturday morning

 

​This Saturday, more than 1,300 people will stroke, pedal and run their way through The Woodlands for the CB&I TRI - The Woodlands Triathlon, bringing road closures with them.

The course starts and finishes at Northshore Park and winds its way along Lake Woodlands Drive to Research Forest Drive, cuts down Six Pines Drive and Timberloch Place to Woodlands Parkway, then loops around the Sterling Ridge Shopping Center before heading back down Lake Woodlands Drive to North Shore Park. As a result these roads will have lane closures 6-10:30 a.m., with the lanes reopening on a rolling basis starting around 8:20 a.m. The Woodlands Township recommends that residents plan to take alternate routes and avoid the roads affected by the race.

The homeowner's property tax is based on the county appraisal district's appraised value of the home. Technically, a Texas homestead's assessed value is limited to the lesser of either its market value or the sum of the market value of any new improvements and 110% of the appraised value of the preceding year. The 10% increase is cumulative. Therefore, the maximum increase is 10% times the number of years since the property was last appraised. The 10% limitation on a Texas homestead is effective January 1st of the tax year following the first tax year the owner qualifies the property for a homestead exemption. The 10% limitaiton ends on January 1st of the tax year where the owner or the owner's spouse or surviving spouse no longer qualifies for the homestead exemption.
